The Ivor Novello Awards 2008
Uniquely British Awards, now in their sixth decade, paving respect to the craft of the songwriter and composer, whose work is the heartbeat of the music industry.
Jazzie B won the first Novello Inspiration Award for being 'a pioneer' and 'the man who gave black British music a soul of its own'. He said:
"This means a lot, not just for me but for the young kids coming up knowing they have support. We’re British and we’re proud of it.”
“Who said black people can’t make it in Britain?"
